I will be updating this as I go along, but I figured I should throw out a few guidelines to get the new people up to speed.
If you've never forum RPed before, please read below.
Forum Roleplaying is generally heavily story driven and feels very little like an actual game. I am going to do my best to add unique elements in to enhance the "gaming" aspect, but keep in mind that you developing your character's backstory and general disposition is going to be your primary goal.
I, and anyone else I deem to be on the staff, will ultimately decide the outcome of the world at large. You are to decide on how your character will react to the tests set before them. Being creative will get you very far. I reward creative players that think outside the box. If you are a front line fighter and decide to beat a mage to death with his own spellbook instead of your sword, that is something that will be rewarded.
If you've never done a pen and paper game before, here's a hint to you. The only restrictions are the ones I myself set. If I haven't said you can't do something, you might be able to do it. If something doesn't exist, and you want it to, I might be willing to let that happen.
All this being said - Let's get to how to use the forums.
The way I have set this up is thus: Under "The World" section there will be forums that represent regions. Each region will then have subforums that will likely be towns or other large areas of note (such as notable temples, dungeons, etc.) Further within these subforums will be topics of either characters roaming about the location or topics I have set up as locations such as shops or minor dungeons.
When you post anywhere in "The World" you will be in effect playing in character. Maybe you're wandering around the Verdant Expanse in search of treasure? Maybe you're in the Fettered Fox having a drink? When you post, think about where you want your character to be. This may be confusing at first, but feel free to try it out as I am setting things up.
Posting Guidelines for IC (In Character) action.
Please use the following guidelines when posting IC
Character Speech Should Be Italicized
Character Action Should Be Bold
(Out of Character Speech Should be in Parenthesis)
Please make sure to keep out of character speech to a minimum when posting in "The World"
Feel free to ask questions. I will flesh this out more as I go.
